Top 5 Coffee Drinks

Coffee is something that we are never without in this house. Ever since getting our Nespresso machine, we love to make different variations of the drinks we would otherwise pay way too much for in the Starbucks drive thru. I am the one between the two of us that loves doctored coffee drinks. My husband makes a gallon of cold brew every week because it’s quick to pour before he goes to work every morning. He likes the fancy drinks but he is also happy just drinking an espresso shot by itself. The drinks I will share today are the ones that I love. While I know not everyone has a Nespresso machine, I will share the recipes for those that has a Nespresso or an Espresso machine and has a way to make drinks with shots of espresso in them.

Iced Caramel Macchiato:

  • 2 pumps vanilla bean syrup

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 shots espresso

  • Caramel drizzle

I like these drinking glasses for iced drinks.

Start by drizzling some caramel in the bottom of the glass then fill halfway up with ice. Pour in the cup of milk (we prefer oat), then add syrup and espresso shots. Stir, then drizzle caramel on top.

Nutella Latte:

  • 2 tbsp of Nutella

  • 1 cup oat milk

  • 2-3 shots espresso

  • whipped cream

When you heat the milk, add the nutella to the cup you are heating it in. Heat for one minute, then add to your cup of espresso shots and top with whipped cream!

I thought this was going to be something that sounded good but didn’t taste good. Let me tell you how wrong I was. My husband has always liked chocolatey drinks. I avoided any lattes with the word “mocha” in it but there is something about the nutty flavor in Nutella that tastes SO good without being too sweet.

Honey Cinnamon Latte:

  • 1 tbsp honey (we love this dispenser

  • 3/4 cup oat milk (heated)

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 shots espresso

  • Sprinkle cinnamon powder on top

I like to add whipped cream first and then sprinkle on the cinnamon powder.

Salted Caramel Cold Brew:

  • Cold brew (my husband buys coffee beans and uses freshly ground coffee to make cold brew)

  • Salted caramel syrup (I don’t like more than a pump in mine but some prefer sweeter so adjust to your liking)

  • Milk if you like to cut your coffee like I do. I put anywhere from 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of oat milk depending on how much cold brew I pour.

Dirty Chai Tea Latte:

  • 1/2 cup chai concentrate (Tazo is best)

  • 1 cup Oat milk

  • 1 shot espresso

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • Cinnamon powder to top

Heat the milk. Then heat the honey in the chai concentrate for about one minute. Pour heated milk over honey chai concentrate. Add espresso and top with cinnamon powder.

If you’re wanting to get really serious about espresso and specialty coffee drinks, here’s a link to the Breville Barista Express. It’s a great start espresso machine with a built in grinder that can grind fine enough to pull great espresso shots. It’s perfect for going down the rabbit hole of making espresso at home.

You’ll also need some fresh, whole bean coffee to go with this machine. I recommend getting some from Black Rifle Coffee Company. They have a variety of delicious roasts to choose from and you can set up a subscription to have your favorite roast delivered straight to you on a schedule. Plus, when you buy from them you are supporting a veteran owned and operated company!
