My 3-Year-Old Gift Guide
I don’t know about you, but I am stepping over toys all day every day. The last thing my child needs from us is toys. However, being that he is a grandchild, I know he will inevitably get toys for Christmas. That is why this year I tried to be very intentional with his gifts from his dad and me.
In January, we will begin introducing some preschool curriculum with him and dropping his daily tablet and tv time. I’ve learned when he gets the dry erase activity books, he just scribbles on them. Same thing when you try to practice tracing on paper, he just takes the pencil and scribbles. Typical for a 3-year-old, but not ideal when trying to teach him tracing. That is why we got him gifts that will encourage learning but also be fun for him to use!
The Leap Frog Mr. Scribble Tablet will be a great way to practice his letters and numbers. He can learn the sounds and how to recognize and write them! I love that it comes with a pencil shape for him to hold and use to trace!
I came across this Leap Frog dictionary in Target one day and immediately thought it would be a great gift! It teaches words, the letters they start with, and sounds the words out for them! A great way to teach them sounds and new words as well as their meanings!
I don’t know about your child, but mine LOVES to read! He has more books that his book loving momma and reads every single day. His favorite thing to do is read a book after his dad and I have read it to him. When I found this LeapReader for beginners I couldn’t pass it up! I love that it has books to teach them reading as well as other learning and activity books that fit so they can practice math as well!
I came across this tracing bead board in the store one day and grabbed it! It would be great for church, appointments, car rides, or just practicing the alphabet anywhere! The tracing pen is attached to the board, and it is front and back.
Obviously, I wanted him to get some fun things he could play with rather than just learning things. He is getting to where he loves playing games with family! We’ve introduced a few very simple games that can be played with him, so he had quite a few on his Christmas list!
Obviously, we had to get the Bluey Keepy Uppy Game. What kid that loves Bluey, does not like the famous Keepy Uppy Game?!
The mini foosball table was something he has wanted for a while, and it is a great activity for rainy days!
The space set was not on his list, but he’s been all about space and being an astronaut for months so I couldn’t pass up this fun set of space toys!
If you want some great sensory gifts that are screen free and perfect for rainy days, check out Riah’s Joyful Creations on Etsy! The play dough is homemade, non-toxic, and doesn’t dry out as fast as store bought play dough! The kits make great gifts and the jars are excellent stocking stuffers!
