My Baby Turned TWO

This boy has been celebrated a total of three times for his birthday this month! We celebrated with family that lives out of town, had a special day with all of his favorite things on his actual birthday, and then celebrated once more with family that lives near!

For full transparency, our budget was tight this year so I wanted to give him a great birthday without breaking the bank. We started out with lots of fun ideas but quickly realized how expensive that route was. That’s when we decided all that was important was that he got to spend it with family, regardless of the decorations.

Our son LOVES Blippi! So I knew I wanted to incorporate Blippi in a less costly way into the theme. The best frugal way to do that was blue and orange balloons, cupcake liners, tablecloths, and napkins. The only thing we spent more than a couple dollars on was this Blippi birthday banner and I ended up using it all 3 times so I definitely got my moneys worth! Throw up a banner, some balloons and add some color to a table and you have a frugal party set up that I promise your child will love!

Then, we celebrated the birthday boy on the day of his actual birthday by doing all of his favorite things and having his favorite meal for dinner! He woke up to a gift from mom and dad, balloons, and his banner hanging and he was so surprised! It was worth every wink of sleep I missed getting it set up the night before. Biscuits and sausage gravy is his favorite meal so that is what we had for dinner and he finished off every bite! We made egg free brownies so he had a dessert and candles to celebrate.

Finally, we celebrated once more with family that lives near and he loved having everyone at his house to celebrate him! We made him egg free cake and cupcakes. I decided I wanted to use what I had so we had a “Luke’s Favorite Things” party! Cars, trucks, balls… and once again, the Blippi banner! He absolutely loved it and it made me realize a toddlers birthday doesn’t have to be matching or perfectly put together because even the smallest things make them happy! He didn’t mind that there were green, orange, and red balloons, or green streamers and racing flag plates and napkins. He was thrilled to find the things he loves the most on a cake made especially for him, or balloons all over the house for him to throw in the air. The simplest things bring joy to children and I think there’s a lesson to be learned in that.

I will list some of the party supplies here for anyone interested!
