Maintaining 2025 Goals
There are goals I started this year with that I have maintained well. However, there are also goals that have not been met, but I still have 10 months to achieve!
Books I have finished or started so far this year:
My biggest goal was to prioritize time in God’s Word every day. I love when I wake up and can read a few chapters while drinking coffee sitting up in bed, but there are also days it happens in the middle of the day while my son is playing independently. There are days I don’t get to at all. I try to listen to it on my phone while doing things around the house or eating lunch with my son if I am unable to sit down for 30 minutes. I say that to say, God doesn’t require perfection. He just wants time with us. Whether that is quiet time in the morning or having a conversation with Him while running errands in town with your children screaming from the backseat.
My Child: Preparing Your Child For The 21st Century by Sara Woods
5/10 recommend
Made some great points but also discussed some things she found to be a necessity that I did not agree with as a parent. They weren’t bad, just not how I would do things.
Praying Circles Around Your Children by Mark Batterson
10/10 recommend
I have read this many times before but decided it would be a good refresher with another child on the way. I can honestly say it’s been a great read through each new season of parenthood.
Cooking at Home:
One of my goals was to fight the urge to grab take out when I don’t feel like cooking dinner. I wanted to make sure I had go-to recipes so if we changed our mind or forgot to thaw something (guilty) we would be able to save money and eat dinner at home. So far this year we have had old recipes we had forgotten, as well as introduced some new ones! I will share some below in case anyone else is in a funk just needs some new, easy recipes.
Spinach and Cheese Scrambled Eggs
It has become my go-to breakfast! Cereal hasn’t really sat well this pregnancy.
Takes 5 minutes and is best topped with cheese.
Honey Garlic Chicken with Broccoli and served over rice
Can be cooked in less than 20 minutes
We always have most of the ingredients on hand
Three Cheese Chicken Penne
First time making this at home
10 times better than Applebee’s!
Required a few more steps than I typically like but it was still cheaper and better than paying for the entree at Applebee’s and wishing they had made it creamier. I won’t make this all the time, but it will definitely be something we make on occasion!
Sundried Tomato Chicken
Cheap, easy, and delish
Can be served over pasta (our fave) or rice.
Southwest Chicken Skillet
Quick, easy, one pan dinner
Serve alone or with tortilla chips
We usually have most of the ingredients on hand.
Pot Roast Beef Stroganoff
Easy, delish crockpot meal
Great comfort meal!
Cream Cheese Spaghetti
Easy, delish, and can be made in under 20 minutes
Chicken and Black Bean Enchiladas
Easy and cheap
Use any size tortillas, season the chicken how you choose. We used homemade fajita seasoning!
Use leftover filling, make ahead, and freeze to pull out later!
Loaded Baked Potato and Broccoli Casserole
Easy, cheap, and can be changed up how you choose!
This was a brand-new recipe, and we LOVED it!
Prioritize Skincare
I have never been great at prioritizing skincare because I’m home most days and don’t even get out of my pajamas. However, I always feel 10x better when I invest in clean skincare and use it daily.
My favorite facial products are Skin Balm Apothecary
Their products are 10/10, clean, and I love how they have options for all skin types!
My favorite body products are my Young Living body oil and lotion
I have used these products for years and I love how clean they are! They have so many others I use, but the lotion and body oil are something I try to use daily.
There are a few things I am still working on getting better at, but thankfully I have the rest of the year to improve. Haha! One of those things being that I do a load of laundry every day, including keeping it folded and hung. The other thing being that I prioritize nightly clean up, so I wake up to a clean space. Let me be honest, pregnancy insomnia is strong this go around. Pregnancy insomnia at night means dragging at some point if not most of the day. Of course, the worst of the dragging happens on the days that my three-year-old son wakes me up before eight. I’m sure once nesting mode kicks in, I will declutter and better keep up the daily chores. Until baby comes anyway. For now, I will take the wins as they come!
What are some goals you have this year that you have been able to achieve or are still working towards?
