Handmade Gift Idea
2023 was a tight year for us financially. It was August and I was trying to think ahead because I know how expensive Christmas is. We had tossed around different ideas for handmade gifts. One day in August I was walking through Hobby Lobby and came across some unique wood cutting boards marked down. When we were tossing gift ideas around, we had talked about a unique picture frame or way to give an updated picture of Luke. When I found the different cutting boards it hit me that we could easily buy the clips and attach them, and it would turn into a frame or clipboard. Pictures are great gifts for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, or any close friend or family member.
The cool thing about this gift was that we could buy cutting boards that are different for each person! The ones with a hole in the handle give them the option of placing it on a wall or just sitting it on a counter. You can get clips on Amazon and tiny screws and attach them to the cutting board. We gave them with a picture of Luke, but I love that they could clip anything on them! They can clip reminders, notes, recipes, or pictures!
I wanted to do more than just the cutting board frame, so I found some small jars on sale and we decided to give a jar of my husbands homemade fajita seasoning with some of them.
The great thing was that we had plenty of each spice we needed to make the fajita seasoning so it was a fun way to share with family while also staying within our budget! Another thing I loved about including the jar of seasoning was that it paired well with the cutting board. It would even make a cute housewarming gift!
We made homemade vanilla a couple years ago and it was such a fun gift to make. If I wanted to do this as a housewarming gift, I could include a bottle of homemade vanilla extract with the seasoning and cutting board frame! Wrap it up and put a fun gift tag on it and you have a budget friendly gift!
